Life at iPower Ireland as a Graduate Design Engineer

Hello!

My name is Cormac and I’m the new Graduate Design Engineer here at iPower Ireland Ltd. I’m a master’s graduate in mechanical engineering from Queen’s University, Belfast, having previously attended school at CBS Omagh.

Engineering has always been my passion. I’ve always taken an interest in problem solving. Throughout my time at university, as a part of my dissertation, I was involved in making a simulation of a factory work floor for a company in the manufacturing industry. I also undertook group project work involving the development of a folding bike. Through the modules I chose to undertake, I obtained skills and knowledge in finite element analysis (FEA), discrete event simulation, robotic simulation and much more!

I was nervous prior to joining iPower Ireland as it is my first office job and I was worried I wouldn’t understand the software or if I would make any friends, however everything has been great! Having used SolidWorks during school and university I have found the transition into working life a bit smoother and the team are always happy to answer any questions that I have. One of the standout aspects of iPower Ireland is its vibrant culture of inclusivity and innovation. From day one, it was clear that everyone’s ideas are valued here. The collaborative, open environment fosters creativity and encourages us to think outside the box and collectively problem solve – plus you can’t beat the craic! It’s inspiring to be part of a team where brainstorming sessions are dynamic, and every voice is heard.

I’m excited about the opportunities for growth and development at iPower Ireland. The company’s dedication to continuous improvement and innovation ensures that there’s always something new to learn and explore and I’m excited to experience CPDs. I’m proud to be part of a team that’s not only shaping the future of energy but also creating a workplace where everyone can thrive.

To anyone considering a career in the engineering / manufacturing industry, I would whole heartedly recommend iPower Ireland Ltd.
